This month I was treated to a week of diving with scuba divemaster and attorney-mediator John “Skip” Dowdy and his dive buddy Dan Weber. I had promised the guys a week of cheap diving on my boat, but the boat never cooperated, despite the heroic efforts of the excellent mechanics at Western Auto. (No, it’s not part of the U.S. repair franchise. It’s just located on the western end of the Brac.)
So, we did two days of shore diving (which was great, by the way) and then three days of boat diving. I got them a great rate at La Esperanza and they paid for multiple meals and all of the boat dives. I even flew back with them to Grand Cayman so that Dan could explain to the service manager at Kirk Marine what seemed to be wrong with the boat. End result: I ordered two new carburetors and bought numerous accessories, including a VHS marine radio.
Little did I know that the next week I’d be back in Texas. (What IS it with me following visitors back to the States???) Ah well...
